Special Teams Coaching Videos: Kicking, Punting & Returns

Kickoff, punt, field goal and return units, plus kicking and punting technique.

30 titles · page 1 of 2

Special teams decide close games, and the special teams coaching videos in this category show how winning programs organise the kicking game instead of treating it as an afterthought. You will find complete kickoff, kickoff return, punt, punt return and field goal installs, along with technique work for kickers, punters, long snappers and holders.

Coaches explain how they pick personnel, how they practise each unit in the time they actually have, and how they scheme for hidden yardage: directional kicks, rugby punts, return walls, shield protection and block schemes. Every title includes drill tape and game film so your staff can teach the details, not just the diagram.

Special Teams Coaching Videos: Kicking, Punting & Returns: Frequently Asked Questions

How much practice time do these coaches give special teams?
Most of the coaches here dedicate a short period every practice plus a longer segment once a week, and they show how to fit units into a two-hour practice without stealing from offense and defense. Organisation is a major theme of these videos.
Do you have videos on kicking and punting technique, not just schemes?
Yes. Several titles are position clinics for kickers, punters and long snappers, covering approach, plant foot, contact and drop, along with drills you can run with a small group.
Which punt protection is best for high school?
Shield punt has become the most common at the high school level because it is simple to teach and holds up against overloads, but traditional spread punt still has advocates. Both are covered here with the coaching points and the adjustments each requires.
Can I stream these or do I need the DVD?
Most special teams titles stream instantly after purchase, and many are also sold on DVD or as a download. Check the badge on each listing and the format options on the product page.
Are these useful for youth and middle school teams?
The organisation and technique lessons apply at every level. For younger players, coaches suggest starting with kickoff coverage lanes, safe kickoff return blocking and a simple shield punt, all of which are taught here.
Do the videos include the return game?
Yes. Kickoff return and punt return units, including wall returns, middle returns and block schemes, are covered along with the coverage units they attack.
