I-Wing Offense Coaching Videos: Power I & Wing Installs

Power, iso, counter and sweep from the I-formation with a wing.

6 titles

Adding a wingback to the I-formation gives a power running team a numbers advantage at the point of attack and a new set of misdirection and play-action threats. The I-Wing offense coaching videos in this category show how coaches install power, iso, counter, sweep and the play-action passes off each, with blocking rules that hold up against odd and even fronts.

You will also find backfield footwork, tailback reads and the drills that teach lead blocking and pulling. It is a natural next step for programs that already run the I and want more from the same personnel.

I-Wing Offense Coaching Videos: Power I & Wing Installs: Frequently Asked Questions

What does the wing add to a standard I-formation?
An extra blocker at the point of attack, a quick motion threat, and better angles for counter and play-action. The videos show how the same base plays improve with the wing.
Which plays come first in an I-Wing install?
Power and iso, then counter and sweep, then play-action. Most installs here follow that order and show the blocking rules for each.
Does this work with an average fullback?
The system asks the fullback to be a willing lead blocker more than a runner, and coaches show the drills that develop that skill.
Can I run I-Wing and a spread package together?
Many programs do. The videos focus on the I-Wing core, and coaches often note how they pair it with a shotgun package for passing situations.
Can I stream these or do I need the DVD?
Most I-Wing titles stream instantly after purchase, and many are also available on DVD or as a download.
Is the I-Wing a good youth offense?
Yes. It is simple to teach, physical and built on a few base plays, which suits youth and middle school teams.
