Shotgun Run Game Coaching Videos: Zone, Power & Read Installs

Inside zone, power, counter and read plays from the shotgun.

5 titles

A shotgun offense still has to run the ball, and the shotgun run game coaching videos here show how coaches build a physical run game from the gun: inside zone, outside zone, power and counter with the quarterback read that turns each into an option, plus the RPO tags that punish defenders who over-commit.

Installs cover blocking rules, the mesh and read progression for the quarterback, and the drills that teach both. These titles fit spread, pistol and no-huddle programs that want to run the ball with conviction.

Shotgun Run Game Coaching Videos: Zone, Power & Read Installs: Frequently Asked Questions

Which shotgun run play should I install first?
Inside zone read is the most common starting point because the blocking is simple and the read teaches the quarterback the concept every other play builds on. Several installs here begin exactly there.
Do these videos cover RPOs?
Yes. Coaches show how they tag quick passes and screens onto their base runs, along with the rules that keep linemen legal downfield.
My quarterback is not a runner. Can I still use these?
Yes. Coaches cover give-only versions, the pistol as a way to keep a downhill run game, and how to use the read as a threat without featuring quarterback runs.
Do the installs include blocking rules for odd fronts?
Yes. Zone, power and counter rules against odd and even fronts are part of every complete install here.
Can I stream these or do I need the DVD?
Most shotgun run titles stream instantly after purchase, and many are also sold on DVD or as a download.
Is this appropriate for high school linemen?
Yes. The videos were filmed with high school and college programs, and coaches emphasise simple rules and repeatable footwork that high school linemen can master.
