About this video
A quarterback and a nose guard should not be lifting the same program. In this session, Charleston Southern head strength and conditioning coach Toby Jacobi works through position-specific football strength training, setting goals and objectives for each position on the field and then writing a detailed regimen to match. It is the fourth session in his five-part strength and conditioning series.
What you'll learn
- The strategy behind position-specific training and why it beats one program for the whole roster
- How to evaluate the strength level of your athletes before you write anything
- Turning that evaluation into a position-specific program each player can follow
- Specific programs for offensive line and defensive line
- Specific programs for quarterbacks, running backs and wide receivers
- Specific programs for tight ends, linebackers and defensive backs
- A training plan for kickers and punters, the group most weight rooms forget
- How to judge the stress each position carries and whether a routine is working after normal workouts
Who it's for
Built for high school and college strength coaches and position coaches who want the weight room to reflect what each group does on the field. Head coaches writing the lifting program themselves will get a ready-made breakdown by position.

Frequently asked questions
Which positions are covered?
All of them. Coach Jacobi gives separate programs for offensive and defensive line, quarterbacks, running backs and wide receivers, tight ends and linebackers, defensive backs, and kickers and punters.
Is this for strength coaches only?
No. It is aimed at any high school or college coach who writes lifting programs - strength coaches, position coaches and head coaches running the weight room themselves - and the evaluation method works regardless of what offense or defense you play.

Coach Jacobi shows how to evaluate the stress each position takes on and how to check the effectiveness of a routine after normal workouts, so you can adjust rather than guess.
