Barry Gibson built the Spin offense because he wanted something defenses would see once a year, and something that let an average team beat a stronger, more talented one. In this video the creator of the Combo offense, later renamed the Spin offense, adds five weak side plays that complement everything you already run to the strong side. What makes the package so hard to defend is that a different player touches the football on every one of them: quarterback, fullback, tight end, left split end and right slot back.

About the coach
Barry Gibson was the head coach at Holtville High School in Alabama. While a high school head coach in Mississippi he created the Combo offense, which later became known as the Spin offense.
