About this video
Coach Ricky Woods shows how a small, simple set of terms lets an offense line up in multiple formations without burying players in new vocabulary. This clinic session lays out the terminology system he has carried to every program he has coached, with every offense he has run, because it installs quickly with all levels of kids and it works.
What you'll learn
- The logic behind Coach Woods's formation terms and how a handful of words combine into a full menu of multiple offensive sets
- How to add formations to your offense without adding plays, new rules or a thicker playbook
- Why the same terminology travels with whatever offense you run, so a scheme change does not mean starting the install over
- How to install multiple sets with young or inexperienced players and still get them lined up fast
- Teaching progression that keeps install time short and cuts down on pre-snap mistakes
- Game film of the terms and sets working against live defenses
Who it's for
Built for high school and college offensive coaches and coordinators, especially head coaches who want formation variety without the install time that usually comes with it. Youth coaches running multiple looks will find the terminology just as usable.
About the coach
Ricky Woods was the head coach at Northwest Mississippi Community College. Before moving up to the college ranks he spent 19 seasons as a high school head coach at the 1A, 2A, 4A and 5A levels and compiled a 213-43 high school record, including five seasons at South Panola High School (MS) where he went 74-1 with four consecutive state championships.
The session makes extensive use of game film.

Does it only work with one offense?
No. Coach Woods has used this terminology with every offense he has coached, so it sits on top of whatever run and pass scheme you already run rather than replacing it.
