About this video

Conventional thinking about football strategy is not part of Kevin Kelley's philosophy, and the two-point conversion is one more place where the Pulaski Academy head coach follows the math instead of the habit. This session lays out how he practices two-point plays before and during the season, how he files them by coverage, blitz and formation, and the simple numbers that make the strategy work.

What you'll learn

  • The philosophy and approach behind the two-point conversion concept
  • How two-point plays are practiced in the pre-season
  • How that work changes once the season starts
  • Game-winning two-point plays, and why they are a separate category
  • Two-point plays organized by coverage and by blitz
  • Two-point plays organized by offensive formation
  • The simple numbers behind the whole strategy
  • Specific in-game strategies for deciding when to go for two

Who it's for

Head coaches and offensive coordinators at the high school and college levels who want a two-point package ready before the situation arrives, rather than a play drawn up in the dirt after a touchdown.

About the coach

Kevin Kelley was the head coach at Pulaski Academy in Arkansas and a three-time state champion. He believes in never punting and in using the on-side kick as an offensive play, an approach featured on HBO's Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel.

One of five sessions in Coach Kelley's series on the Pulaski system. Runtime: about 56 minutes.

Frequently asked questions

What is in the two-point conversion video?

Kelley's full approach to going for two: the philosophy behind it, pre-season and in-season practice plans, plays sorted by coverage, by blitz and by formation, a separate group of game-winning calls, and the in-game decision strategy.

Who should watch it?

High school and college head coaches and offensive coordinators, especially anyone who makes the extra point decision on the headset. The organizing system works with whatever formations and concepts your offense already carries.

How does the video get to me?

It is a Buy Now, Watch Now streaming title. The $19.95 purchase appears immediately in your AFM Videos account, plays on any device and never expires, and it is also part of the $99 1-Year All Access membership.

Why does he separate game-winning two-point plays?

Because Kelley says there is a difference. The call you make to take a lead late is not the same as the calls you run earlier in a game, and he organizes and practices the two groups separately.
