About this video
Kevin Kelley flipped conventional football thinking on its ear at Pulaski Academy. After one of his team's punts was returned for a touchdown, he decided not to punt again in just about any situation, and this session is the whole case for that call: where the idea came from, the statistics behind using all four downs, and what it does to your team and to the opponent.
What you'll learn
- What first started Kelley thinking about not punting
- The statistical information that supports using all four downs
- How to win your team and your coaching staff over, because everyone else doing something does not make it the best way
- Team benefits for your offense and, just as importantly, for your defense
- The psychological benefits for your own team and against the opposing team
- A comparison of fourth down conversions versus turnovers
- How opposing teams react, and how it changes the decisions they make
- The non-direct effects on a game, including the benefits you get even when you do not convert
