About this video
Butler High School's offense averaged 47 points per game, and a signature piece of that attack is the package the Bulldogs call DogBite, a fast-paced, no-huddle grouping system that puts a small set of chosen plays in the hands of whatever personnel the staff wants on the field. Head coach Brian Hales explains exactly what DogBite is, when he calls it, and why defenses struggle to get lined up against it.

Frequently asked questions
What exactly is the DogBite package?
DogBite is Butler's fast-paced, no-huddle grouping system. Each grouping is labeled by color, Blue, Green, White or Orange, and carries roughly four plays chosen for that week's game plan, signaled in without a huddle.
Who can run it?
Any high school offense. It is a package layered on top of what you already do rather than a complete system, so a staff can add DogBite to a Wing-T, spread or pro-style attack and keep its base offense intact.
How does the video work?
It streams on demand. Buy it for $19.95 and it plays immediately in your AFM Videos account on phone, tablet or laptop, as many times as you want, or watch it through the 1-Year All Access membership ($99/year) that covers the whole library.
Why does DogBite catch defenses unprepared?
Hales shows how the tempo prevents substitution and how the personnel grouping forces the defense to defend the plays with whoever is already on the field, which is where Butler creates its matchups.
